Every Saturday in August, 9 am - 1 pm. The Farmer's Market  will be held on North Market Street between the Heritage Center and Elderly United.  All food is grown in Ohio.  For more information call 937.536.9408.

 

Every Saturday during August, 7 pm - 9 pm, The Upper Valley Mall will be open to local musicians to perform on stage.  It's a terrific opportunity for up and coming musicians to showcase their talent in front of a live audience.  If you are interested in performing please contact Carla Miller at the Upper Valley Mall office, 937.328.5000.

 

August 13th - October 5th, Michael Scott Rozell, "Overlay," Glass Art Exhibition to be held at the Westcott House, 1340 E. High Street.  Beauty, form, balance and abstraction are the qualities present throughout the work of this contempoprary glass artist.  His art combines the admiration for traditional Italian and Swedish glass techniques with a modern American design sensibility.  For reservations call 937.327.9291.

 
August 14th, 6:30 pm, The World Refugee Situation with Dr. Akber Mohammed, Gaier Room, Clark County Public Library.  For more information call 937.328.6903.
 

August 15th, 11:30 am - 1 pm, Lunch on the Lawn:  Symphony Chorale Vocal Ensemble, the Symphony presents Lunch on the Lawn, a series of free informal ensemble concerts held on the front lawn of the Springfield Museum of Art during the noon lunch hour.  A sack lunch including beverage will be available for $6.

 

August 16th, 2 pm - 10 pm, Revvin' It Up Downtown, 2nd Annual Downtown Springfield Hot Rods and Harleys Event.  Food vendors and live entertainment.  Held around the esplanade and in front of the Heritage Center, Fountain Avenue, downtown.  Contact 937.322.3590 or visit www.midohiohd.com for more information. 

 

August 16th, 4 pm - 10 pm, Springfield Sports Night will be held at Evans Stadium.  Giveaways, bands, meet the mascots from local colleges and pro teams.  Introduction of the High School, Middle School and Pee Wee Football Programs.  At 9 pm "The Rivalry - Ohio State and Michigan" will be shown on a giant inflatable movie screen.  This is a free event.

 

August 15th - 17th, Friday 12 am - 6 pm, Saturday 8 am - 5 pm, Sunday 9 am - 4 pm.  The Springfield Antique Show and Flea Market will be held at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Exit 59 on Interstate 70.  This huge show has been a favorite source for thousands of collectors and dealers for over twenty-five years.  For more information see  www.springfieldantiqueshow.com.

 

August 16th - 17th,  The Gypsy Vanner Horse Show and The Mid-American Miniature Horse Show are sharing the facilities at the Champions Center, Clark County Fairgrounds, Exit 59 on Interstate 70.  For more information call 937.325.0053.

 

Save the Date, August 23rd, 6 pm - 11 pm.   Drive Away Child Abuse NASCAR Nite  will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2055 Bird Road.  Fast cars, fabulous food and family fun, join us for live coverage of Bristol!   Featuring kids games, cornhole tournament, gas card give-aways and much more.  Help raise awareness and support for the 1,584 local victims of child abuse.  Proceeds benefit Clark County Child Advocacy Center and Rocking Horse.  Call 937.324.1111, extension 109 or 110 for tickets.

 

Save the Date, September 27th, 11 am - 7 pm, CultureFest 2008 - Celebrating and Discovering the Rainbow.  A multi-cultural festival promoting intercultural understanding.  Ethnic music, food, dance and story telling.  For more information call 937.324.7380.

Ongoing until December 31st, The Heritage Exhibit, trace the evolution of public education in Springfield and Clark County through artifacts and extensive photographs from the collections of the Clark County Historical Society.

The Ohio BWC's Board unanimously approved the first phase of a long-term plan that is expecting pricing accuracy and equity when determining Workers' Compensation premiums.  The improvements may reduce base rates by as much as 25%, once implemented.  For full information visit www.ohiobwc.com.
