Introduction Letter From Mike McDorman

Elections come and go but voters’ responsibilities don’t end the day they cast their ballots. Being an involved citizen requires more than going a few miles out of your way on election day to vote.

In fact, voting is just one part of the process, just one way of having your voice heard.

Whether you liked the results of the last election or not, don’t dismiss your patriotic duty by becoming a bystander in the American political system.

Voting is one way to make your voice heard, but another way, and perhaps more powerful, is letting your elected representatives know how you feel about various topics they are debating in Washington, D.C., Columbus or Springfield.

How do you do that? There is a link on this Website that after taking just a few seconds to register can put you in touch with your representatives in Washington and Columbus.

Best of all, the site has an email link you can use to send a note to your representative. Don’t know who your representatives are? No problem. When you register, the site will list not only the president and governor and information about them, but also gives you links to your representatives.

By clicking on the representative’s name, you are directed to that person’s Website where such information as party affiliation, education, personal information and a quick link to their email address can be established.

Letters should be as short as possible and to the point, said a spokeswoman in Congressman Dave Hobson’s office. Include a phone number and/or email address in case more information is needed. If asking for help from a federal agency, it must be made via a signed letter.
