Housing

While healthcare reform has recently been a hot topic in Washington, Greater Springfield began the process years ago. Two long competing hospitals merged in 2005 to form Community Mercy Health Partners. Soon after the merger, they announced their intention to build a new 475,000-square foot hospital with 254 private rooms. Moreover, they chose to locate the new hospital to downtown Springfield. Urban Development expert David Rusk applauded Springfield as the only community in the country currently building a new downtown hospital. The Springfield Regional Medical Center is scheduled to open in 2012.

In addition, 37 local doctors have collaborated to build a state-of-the-art surgical center in the heart of downtown. The Ohio Valley Medical Center opened in August of 2009 and their patient satisfaction record is near perfect to date.

As the largest employer in Clark County, CMHP employs almost 3,000 healthcare professionals and works with more than 300 local physicians to serve its patients. Currently, CMHP operates:

  • The new Springfield Regional Medical Center will go beyond an acute care facility to create a healing environment that promotes health and recovery and ministers to the well-being of patients, families, medical staff, associates and volunteers. Key features include an expanded emergency center, a dedicated women’s health pavilion, and wireless capabilities for staff and guests. The Springfield Regional Cardiac Center at the hospital houses state-of-the-art heart catheterization labs which further enhance the hospital’s nationally recognized cardiac surgery program.
