Minimum Wage
Ohioans passed a constitutional amendment in 2006 for increasing the state minimum wage. The Ohio Chamber led efforts to pass House Bill 690, which details how the amendment will be implemented.
For one, it exempts home health care workers, farm and amusement park employees. But the Department of Commerce, charged with enforcing and implementing HB 690, disagrees with these exemptions and is not enforcing them. It’s likely the department’s position will be challenged in the courts by Ohio companies that are negatively affected by its refusal.
